In efforts to enhance national security, the role of professional engineers is crucial in supporting the independence of Indonesia's defense industry. Defense industry independence is one of the important aspects of enhancing the national resilience of a country. This research employs several research methods to obtain a comprehensive picture of the role of professional engineers in achieving the independence of Indonesia's defense industry. The methods used include SWOT analysis, System Thinking, and Archetype Analysis. The research aims to illustrate the importance of the role of professional engineers as human resources in achieving the independence of Indonesia's defense industry. To enhance industrial independence, efforts need to be made to improve the implementation of regulations and increase the capacity of engineers through broader training and certification. Increasing investment in research and development, as well as support for technological innovation, is also important to create an environment that supports sustainable growth in industrial protection. Overall, professional engineers are at the center of technological development and innovation in the defense industry. Therefore, greater attention to the development of engineer capacity and improvement of regulations will greatly contribute to achieving industrial independence and increasing national resilience
