Abstract

This research aims to analyze the level of community participation in the Regional Head Election (Pilkada) for Mayor in South Tangerang City in 2020. Community participation in the regional head election process has an important role in ensuring democratic representation and the legitimacy of the election results. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. The theory used in this community participation research comes from Sherry Arnstein (informing, consultation, and placement). Primary data was obtained through interviews distributed to residents of South Tangerang City who have the right to vote in the Mayoral Election. This research also utilizes secondary data from relevant agencies and institutions to obtain a comprehensive picture of the political and social context in the city. The results of the analysis reveal the level of public participation in the South Tangerang Mayoral Election in 2020, including the level of attendance at polling stations, the level of participation in candidate debates, political campaigns, and other election-related activities. Apart from that, this research also identifies factors that influence community participation in the Pilkada, such as the level of political awareness, level of education, and perceptions about the integrity of candidates. It is hoped that the results of this research can contribute to understanding the level of community participation in the Mayor's Election process and the factors that influence it in South Tangerang City in 2020. It is hoped that these findings can become the basis for formulating more effective policies in increasing community participation in the process. politics and future regional head elections.
